HI, I'M LAUREN JEWETT.
HI, I'M LAUREN JEWETT.
I am currently the DSCC Member for District 78, Seat A. On the DSCC, I serve on the Executive Committee as one of the First Congressional District Caucus representatives. I am also an elected At-Large Member of the Jefferson Parish Democratic Executive Committee and serve as the Secretary. I ran for the DSCC and DPEC in my parish because I believe we deserve a functional and responsive Louisiana Democratic Party that works for ALL of us, not just some of us.

I was a candidate for the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE), District 1 during the fall 2023 election cycle and I was a candidate for Jefferson Parish School Board, District 6 during the fall 2022 election cycle. I am currently a Nationally Board Certified special education teacher who has taught in public and charter schools in Louisiana for over 14 years. I ran for both my local and state school boards because I am somebody who understands and relates to the beauty and complexities of teaching and learning. Teachers are one of the closest stakeholders to the education process and what happens daily with students in the classroom and school building, but too often we are the recipients rather than the architects of education policies.

My school board campaigns were centered on the belief that employees, students, and families of Louisiana deserve to have a public school teacher’s voice on this board to highlight the wonderful accomplishments AND address the very real concerns we see in schools. I have always committed as a candidate to using my expertise, knowledge, and passion to serve in the role of school board member/elected official.
