I was a candidate for Jefferson Parish School Board, District 6 during the fall 2022 election cycle. I currently live in District 6 which covers part of the Eastbank of Jefferson Parish in Metairie, Louisiana. I have been a resident of District 6 for 7 years and I am currently a Nationally Board Certified special education teacher who has taught in public and charter schools in Louisiana for over 13 years. I ran for my local school board because I am somebody who understands and relates to the beauty and challenges of teaching and learning in our current school climate. Teachers are one of the closest stakeholders to the education process and what happens daily with students in the classroom and school building.

My campaign was centered on the belief that employees, students, and families of the Jefferson Parish School District and community deserve to have a public school teacher’s voice on this board in real time to highlight the wonderful accomplishments AND very real concerns we see in schools. Throughout my campaign, I highlighted my expertise, knowledge, and passion to serve in the school board role.
